My name is Bob Uva. I strive to see understand the big picture and the details, thus the title of my blog. My passions lie in software development, giving back and helping non-profits, reading and following my sports teams.
I’m employed by Vidoop, LLC, as Technical Lead on the team responsible for the Password Manager and browser plug-in technology. Vidoop is an exciting place to work. Lots of young, intelligent people with vision and drive. One of the things that makes our company stand out from the pack, besides the dedication of its employees, is our commitment to open web technologies. Visit vidoop.com for more information.
During most of my career I have developed software using the Microsoft software stack and their development tools. I’m excited about the new technologies Microsoft continues to release, especially since their internal research organization has taken off. Since joining Vidoop, however, I’m getting exposed to more non-Microsoft technologies which is broadening my skills and keeping me on my toes.
In addition to donating to worthy causes, I have tried to dedicate some of my time to helping local non-profits in any way that makes sense, whether it be with blogging, publizing events, or offering technical assistance.
I live in Portland, Oregon and am a volunteer community producer for Portland Community Media. I would like to work on digital storytelling, which is generally considered an art of creating a short film from photographs, voice-over, music soundtrack and text graphics. The film can also include video. My tools of choice are currently Final Cut Express and Adobe Photoshop Elements.
I grew up in the Boston area, am a die-hard Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins fan. Since moving my family to Portland in 1996, I now also support the TrailBlazers and the Seattle Mariners.
I graduated from Harvard College, class of 1978, in economics.
